Clinical Trials for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Thanks, in part, to increased public awareness of the disease, there are an unprecedented number of clinical trials devoted to identifying effective treatment methods for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. That said, with hundreds of clincial trials taking place at any given time, finding the right one for you or your loved is often a challenge. Factors that determine whether a given trial is a “fit” include age, the stage of the disease, location, previous medication usage and more.
CrohnsandColitisTrials.org gives you the ability to find clinical trials in your area that you may qualify for. You’ll be asked a handful of questions—which take about 30 seconds to answer—to determine your eligibility.

In the event that no applicable studies are found in your area, you’ll have the option to keep your contact information on file with CrohnsandColitisTrials.org so that you can be contacted when one or more studies become available.

Facts About Clinical Trials

There are currently hundreds of clinical studies available for IBD patients in the United States. Studies are available for people affected by Crohn‘s Disease, as well as Ulcerative Colitis.

According to the Crohn‘s & Colitis Foundation, patients involved in clinical studies do somewhat better than people who are not enrolled, regardless of whether the experimental treatment works.

Most clinical trials provide study medications and trial-related medical care at no cost. Many reimburse travel costs and provide compensation to participants.
